About

Hi, I'm Shari, and refreshed is my creative outlet for all things coastal.

My career in retail began in apparel, but eventually I realized my real passion was for furniture and home decor where I designed and decorated upscale nurseries and childrens' rooms before moving on to decorating and staging beach homes in Atlantic Beach, Florida.

After working to open a Ballard Design in Jacksonville, FL and marrying my best friend and love of my life, Rand, I knew I finally had the know-how and support system to start my own business. So in 2005 I started refreshed in the Eight Flags Antique Market on Amelia Island, FL. I was finding old pieces of furniture that inspired me, then painting nearly everything beachy shades of white for a cottage feel.

When we moved to Chesapeake, Virginia in 2014, I was searching for a place to sell my furniture when I met Bob Burns of Second Sale Consignments. He just so happened to have a space available in his building, but it needed a lot of work. For several months, Rand and I poured ourselves into the biggest refreshed project to date.

We worked out of this space in the Intercoastal Plaza shopping center for several years until it sold. We then moved into a new space right across the street in the Great Bridge Shopping Center.

Today, refreshed is a welcoming space that speaks to our coastal Florida roots while working beautifully with our new coastal Virginia home. We hope our pieces transport you to your own beach cottage or that the space will give you the inspiration to refresh your tired furniture or inspiration pieces with the Amy Howard One Step paint we've used for so long.

We love the hunt of finding a perfect piece, the quiet and reflective moments we spend refreshing them, and the thrill of seeing the finished product. We want to help you have the same experience - so come in today to find your inspiration, a finished piece, sign up for a class and just get to know us!
